An offer of $20 was made and accepted by Danielle Kline. 18 ferrets were purchased by Rocky's Ferret Rescue and Shelter. The following is a photo essay of the conditions of these ferrets. These ferrets had come from the Hagerstown Ferret Rescue just 3 weeks and others, 1 week earlier. It was with broken heart, that Barb and Jade were denied the purchase approximately 8 others.
![]() | Typical sight in this rescue was empty food bowls (2), no water source, and food bowls in litter boxes......perhaps a desperate plea from the ferrets to have their hunger noticed. |
![]() | Mother and litter of 5 week old kits huddle on wet cold towel......empty food bowls...empty staring eyes |
![]() | The building where the ferrets were housed was an old broken down shed, with only 3 walls. The ferrets' cages were where the 4th wall would have been. They were exposed to sun, rain and wind, and insects (and of course the subsequent maggots) without any protection. |
![]() | A small window fan sits several feet away, unused. Barb stands and surveys the situation, all the while recognizing these as Di Bachman's ferrets...just relocated from one nightmarish condition to another. |
![]() | A view of the wall-less shed. |
![]() | This was the only cage we saw that had food and a solid floor. Whereas it had a piece of bedding, it was inaccessible because of the shoebox of litter sitting on it. This mother and her 5 kits were crowded in this "mommy cage" |
![]() | The condition of the cages from afar. The feces with colorful bedding pieces, the babies standing on the rusted wire floors. |
![]() | A view from the edge of the shed, with Dani Kline (face blurred as I (webmaster) do not have a release from her) standing in front of all of the cages. Notice the one hammy to the left...it was the only hammy in the entire setup. |
![]() | Barb and Jade were closing the deal on the ferrets and quickly readying them for transport. What a deal....Dani got them for free from Di, and Rocky's paid $20.....We offered more for the ones we were refused...and again denied. If we could have we would have done anything to get all of them....but she had her favorites, and we didn't have enough money. |
![]() | Dani Kline in front of her business of ferrets. A closing remark by her, as she refused to release a large intact hob to the shelter, "This would make a great show ferret, but we're not into shows" |
The ferrets are in need of ADV testing, vaccinations against rabies and distemper, and spaying/neutering. This should cost several thousand dollars. If you can help, please do. Send all paypal donations to Rocky's here, or via postal mail to:
