Hagerstown Rescue Continued

On Saturday, August 16th at 12:30pm, Barbara Clay and Jade Steelman arrived in Wolfsville, Maryland. Their meeting with the caregiver of the following ferrets was the result of a collaborative effort by Lisa Leidig, of Ferret Haven By The Sea, Gail Elsey, of Scales and Tails, and FOTH Ferrets.

An offer of $20 was made and accepted by Danielle Kline. 18 ferrets were purchased by Rocky's Ferret Rescue and Shelter. The following is a photo essay of the conditions of these ferrets. These ferrets had come from the Hagerstown Ferret Rescue just 3 weeks and others, 1 week earlier. It was with broken heart, that Barb and Jade were denied the purchase approximately 8 others.

This pic.....it broke our hearts to leave these kids behind. These were her "rescues" given to her by folks that didn't want them anymore. They were not for our taking, despite our best attempt at persuading her to release them.
Typical of all the cages in the shack; no floor coverings, no litter boxes, empty maggot covered empty food bowls. Feces appeared to have digested/passed fabric in it
Upside down food bowl, with rubber chew toy for kits in cage to amuse themselves
This cage had only a towel. If they look familiar it's because they're the same towel(s) that were in Di Bachman's cages in Hagerstown. Free towel with every free ferret....what a deal!
Crowded cage w/mom and 5 kits. No food or water
It's anyone's guess what mystery liquid appears in the twin food bowls.
Baby chose to sleep in the litter box rather than wet cold towels
Empty food bowl, except for small maggots in it, inside the litterbox
Mom with litter of 5 weeks kits crowding together staying away from food bowl in litter box
Mom with 5 kits in crowded cage, next to the ground, longing for a way to get hold of that Deli-Cat, just out of their reach

The ferrets are in need of ADV testing, vaccinations against rabies and distemper, and spaying/neutering. This should cost several thousand dollars. If you can help, please do. Send all paypal donations to Rocky's here, or via postal mail to:
